The invention consists of a new method for preparing mixtures which are derived from conventional asphalt of all types and fragments of motor car tyres (recycling of old car tyres) at a mixing temperature of 190 degree C to 205 degree C and with aromatic oils or naphtha oils according to the nature of the asphalt used. An active material is also added to the mixture which is a mixture of selected resins thus achieving an improvement in the rheology of the asphalt. The modified asphalt product produced (composition) is used in the preparation of a range of tarmacs and membranes for the construction of roads and aerodromes, for waterproofing the interior surfaces of hydraulic structures (canals, reservoirs, dam faces etc.) and, generally, for the protection of industrial and urban drainage networks and, in accordance with Claim 10, tyre fragments alone with an inert material are used for making non-reinforced concrete (kerbs, tiles etc.).
