The present invention discloses how discharge that is being discharged by a conventional Kaplan-bulb turbine is governed by an impeller transversal section hydraulic area. This invention refers to a Kaplan-bulb turbine improved design characterized in that the impeller vanes are fixed to a ring having a size greater than that of a conventional Kaplan-bulb turbine. When said diameter is changed, the transversal section area at the impeller is increased, thereby allowing to unload discharges much greater than those of conventional ones. In the improved design, the ring diameter can have such a great dimension so as to incorporate a higher number of vanes than rings of conventional impellers, which generally include four vanes. In the improved design, the front and rear bulb diameters will vary in accordance with the impeller, to attain a continuous and hydrodynamically effective profile. These characteristics will allow that under similar hydraulicl loads, as compared to a conventional turbine, the improved turbine design generates a greater energy, in the same proportion as that of the highest discharged load.
