Multi-stage process for the recovery of secondary raw materials from residual waste, contaminated plastics, old waste and fine screenings from sewage treatment plants and sand trap residues. In this method, dry sieving, separating, sorting and classifying techniques and wet process steps of this type are changed several times in succession. The clean secondary raw materials obtained are conditioned in steps, preferably in an aerobic environment, and, with the exception of problematic substances, are fed directly into biological, material or raw material recycling. The conditioning of the secondary raw materials also allows for long-term temporary storage due to the lack of smell and low fermentation. The low investment costs enable the installation of small plants for regional waste management and still correspond to strict economic considerations compared to competing technologies. A process regime without a subsequent landfill and without mass incineration enables raw materials to be recycled for around one sixth of the partial mass flow of mixed plastics, composites and contaminants. Residues can be processed into building materials. Fine screenings are not subjected to any previous dry mechanical pretreatment.
