A composition providing a coating or impregnation on hard surfaces to protect them against weathering, mechanical stresses and chemicals consists of (A) 10-50 (preferably 15-35) wt.% of a component comprising a natural and/or synthetic wax, a polymer (or precursor) and optionally also pyrogenic silica; (B) 90-50 (preferably 85-60) wt.% liquid carrier consisting of organic solvent(s) and/or water; and optionally (C) 0.1-35 (preferably 0.1-10) wt.% wetting agent, processing aid, dispersant, emulsifier, stabiliser, protective colloid, filler, perfume, preservative, skin protectant, matting agent, pigment, dye and/or tinting agent.
