In a communication system, two multi-beam antennas (20, 20a) arranged side by side on each other provide an effective range of azimuthal sectors for receiving signals from a system user, respectively. Each antenna has an intersection 74, 75, 76 between the beams 21 ', 22', 23 ', 24' in comparison with the peak gain along the centerline 70 of each beam (72 in FIG. RTI ID = 0.0 low-gain /RTI Angular diversity is achieved by centering the two multi-beam antennas at different azimuth angles 96 in the critical sector. As the peak gain beam centerline of a multi-beam antenna is aligned with the beam crossing region of a pseudo-antenna (FIG. 5), the beam 12 ' A minimum gain improvement of 5 dB will typically be achieved with the four beam antenna 20,20a.
