The method determines an ovulation dependent time during a menstruation cycle. The time is equal to the time of temperature increase plus a predetermined number of days after ovulation. A device is used which has a microprocessor (6), an analog to digital convertor (5), one or more temperature sensors, a display unit (9), a read/write memory (7) and a programme memory (8). All of the device parts are contained in a housing which can be worn on the body. To determine the time, the body temperature is measured at a number of time intervals. By forming average values, the microprocessor derives values Ta and TP for all previous cycles with bandwidths delta Ta and delta TP. From these values the time of temperature increase is determined. To remove possible disturbing effects additional temperature measurements can be taken.
