The method includes a water supply hose (SCHL) and a cylinder to supply synchronised rotating nozzles (D1,D2), which spray water jets on the pipe wall under test. The electrical potential due to the current flow from the first nozzle in the non-infinite resistive pipe line material resulting depending on the place is scanned. The electrical potential is led to a measuring system across the second water jet in the opposing direction to a second nozzle, and from there across a further cable core. The potential difference at the measurement system is compared to one of the two potentials of the voltage source. The rotating cylinder for the nozzles is simultaneously moved in an axial direction. The scanning for damage for the entire surface of the inner pipe can be identified in any narrow spirals in the form of a scanning.
