An air conditioning unit for commercial vehicles and busses has a cooling medium/water-heat exchanging device (14) with a plate evaporator (36). This evaporator is connected to a cooling medium throttle valve via a fixed throttle (38), and also with a cooling medium collector (42) on the suction side. The fixed throttle is an ejector nozzle. The heating circulating system (2) can be divided into an outer circuit (4), for the air conditioning of the occupant space of the vehicle, and also an inner circuit (6). The inner circuit has a water supply with such a volume as to allow a specific heat capacity of the inner circuit to be at least 10 Wh/K.
