The set has a box closed on all sides. The box has a container part (22) and a cover (20). The box contains at least one experiment plate (28) and also contains the several components needed for the individual experiments. At least part of the box, preferably the lid (20) has on its inner surface, holders (30) for components (32). This formes an additional experiment field for experiments which cannot be made on the experiment plate (28). The box preferably has two flat, shell-type side parts (24,26). These have, on their inner surfaces, holders (30) for e.g. optical components (32). The two side parts are combined to form a housing with closable openings for the entry or exit of light.
