Casting mould for production of single crystal casting having growth cavity and nucleation cavity

Single crystal casting is produced in a mould having a growth cavity (2) in the shape of the product to be cast and a nucleation cavity (3) connected to it, with a nucleant crystal (4) positioned on the side of the casting channel (5) connecting the two cavities, completely covering its opening. Preferably the nucleant crystal has two parallel end faces and is cut from a cylindrical blank at an angle of 35-90 deg. to the blank axis. The minimum diameter of the nucleation cavity is not smaller than the maximum dimension of the nucleant crystal and the cavity is sealed with a ceramic material.
