The floating cage is compartmented by tubes (1) which are sleeved together by PVC connectors (3-5). A pocket in the shape of a prism (6) constitutes the shrimp farming enclosure, and is suspended by the frame and held in tension by ballast. The ballast consists of a galvanised steel tube which is placed inside the pocket bottom rim (7). The pocket is connected to the frame exterior by a cord which encircles the tube and passes through eyelets at the pocket top. Each of the tubes is closed at its two ends by a plug constituting an independent float. A protection surface is provided against shrimp escape or entry of predators. This protection screen, covering the frame surface, is held in tension by ballast weights fixed along its periphery and overhanging the cage frame.
