The cable protection device has a cover (2) extending over the top of the engine and covering the ignition cables. The cover is hinged at one edge so it can lift to the vertical from its normal horizontal position. The cover is held closed by a clip (4) with a semicircular profile. The clip when removed serves as a tool to assist connection and disconnection of the high tension cables to and from the spark plugs. The cover also protects vacuum lines (7) running over the top of the engine. The cover can be hinged from the inlet manifold, and may provide guides for the cables.
