The pool slopes gently down from the edge and is made of a continuous, flexible paving (2) made from a honeycomb textile lattice (4). The cells (3) in this material are filled with concrete. The paving rests on a support layer (8) with a watertight surface. Between the paving and the supporting layer is a textile drainage layer (9). Around the edge of the pool there are injectors (20) which can diffuse a liquid into the drainage layer to clean the inner, inaccessible face of the paving. The cleaning liquid is collected at a low point (25) in the base and drained off. A space is maintained between the drainage layer and the paving with a plastics net or regularly spaced plastics feet.
