Remote monitoring and remote control system for medium and low voltage electricity distribution systems

The distribution management system has a central management computer (UNIGEST) receiving information from the various main plant items in the distribution network. The data is carried along the power lines in the network or by terrestrial and satellite radio links. There are different computer stations handling different data: a principal SCADA station, a receiving station, and a station handling topological information, consumption measurement and transformer permutations. The central computer can control switching in the network via radio links. The system also has mobile vehicles (POMO RT,POMO ENTR) which have global positioning systems and a CCD camera for taking black and white images of the system. This information along with position information of the vehicle obtained from the GPS system are then relayed back to the monitoring system. A vehicle may also be in radio contact with the monitoring system.
