PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition incorporated with glass fibers improved in dispersibility in the cement matrix and reinforcing effect and also imparted with durability. ;SOLUTION: This composition comprises 100 pts.wt. of cement, 20-100 pts.wt. of lightweight aggregate, 5-20 pts.wt. of a synthetic resin emulsion (45wt.% in concentration on a solid basis), 1-6 pts.wt. of glass fibers, 0.1-1.0 pt.wt. of a defoaming agent, 0.1-0.3 pt.wt. of a water-soluble resin, and 30-60 pts.wt. of water. The synthetic resin emulsion is such one that the resin consists of an acrylic styrene copolymer and each of the emulsion particles is constituted of such double shell as to enclose soft inner shell by hard outer shell. The other objective ultra-lightweight GRC member is obtained as follows: the cement is subjected to dry mixing with the lightweight aggregate in advance, followed by adding the synthetic resin emulsion, defoaming agent and water-soluble resin to the mixture, and water is then added to the resultant mixture followed by kneading and then adding the glass fibers to the system followed by further kneading, and the resultant mixture is cast into a formwork and then subjected to steam curing followed by demolding.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
