PURPOSE:To effectively utilize a CaCO3-containing substance by calcining a CaCO3-containing substance generated by aquatic biosystem and crushing the calcined product in the presence of a surfactant to cause the coating of the crushed product with the surfactant. CONSTITUTION:A CaCO3-containing substance generated by aquatic biosystem such as shell is calcined at =1000 deg.C for 10-90min, thrown into a mixer while it is still hot and stirred. Simultaneously with the above process, an aqueous solution containing 0.1-5wt.% of a surfactant (e.g. stearic acid) is charged into the mixer to effect the coating of the substance with the surfactant under crushing. Each particle of the produced fine powder is coated with the surfactant by this process.
