The method involves feeding a stream of material (Sc) to the central feed (9) of a guide member (8) which rotates about the axis of rotation (O) of the rotating system. The fed stream of material is fed from the central feed along the guide face (10) to the delivery end (11) of the guide member. The delivery end is situated at a greater radial distance from the axis of rotation than the central feed. The guided stream of material comes off the guide member with at least a radial velocity component (vr) and is guided in a deterministic straight stream (R) when seen from a stationary viewpoint and in a deterministic spiral stream (S) when seen from a viewpoint which moves together with the guide member using the rotating impact member (14) to hit the material which is moving in the deterministic spiral stream and has not yet collided. The rotating impact member has an impact face (15) and rotates in the same direction.
