The carwash comprises roof- and side-brushes which are arranged on at least one moving portal (P1,P2). The brushes have rotatably driven tubes. The side-brush tubes (5,6) are equipped on at least one part-region of their axial length with brush material (4a,7a) or other material suitable for washing. The remaining part of the side-brush tubes carries high pressure nozzles (5a,6a) directed at the vehicle. One side-brush (5) is equipped with brush material (4a) only in its top part, and the other side-brush (6) has brush material (7a) only in its bottom part. The nozzles are located on holders carried on the corresponding side-brush tube which do not rotate with the brush tubes.
