The control (regulation) device (18) has a memory (34) holding a control model for the system to be controlled provided by the test sample (10), the operating element (12) and a control servo-valve (16) for the latter, with dynamic characteristic values e.g. the mass (M), the spring constant (K) and the damping coefficient (C) of the sample used as the model variables. The model is used for simulating the control response in order to provide an optimum feedback gain for the control device, which has a servo-amplifier (24) for amplifying the control signal fed to the servo-valve.
