Process for measuring the radiation emitted at at least two spatially separate points during a combustion process and for controlling the combustion process in function of the measured radiation, and device for implementing the process. To improve monitoring of the combustion, the radiation from combustion on a grate is measured by detection of the radiation emitted essentially by individual combustion zones of the grate and the primary air supply to the individual combustion zones and/or the flow rate of the fuel in the individual zones is controlled in function of the measured radiation.
