摘要
Each traditional wooden truss (1) consists of two principal rafters, a tie beam (4), a king post joining the rafter to the tie beam and also angle braces which support the main rafters (9) of the roof through a ridge pole. To alter the frame, for each truss, the principal rafters, king post, and angle braces must be removed and replaced by a V-shaped, steel frame. The base of the frame (17a) has a width l and is fixed to the ridge pole (10). The ends (17c) of the two side sections (17b) of the V-shaped frame are fixed to the ends (4a) of the tie beam(4). It may be necessary to cut out sections (12a) in the intermediate purlins (12) and insert the arms of the frame in these sections.. The base of the frame (17a) is fixed to the ridge pole using a U-shaped section (18) which slots over the right pole. The central section of the king post is then removed.
