PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a zirconia-dispersed alumina sintered compact having high strength, high thermal shock resistance and high abrasion resistance. ;SOLUTION: This zirconia-dispersed alumina sintered compact is obtained by dispersing zirconia particles forming a solid solution so that an amount of Dy2O3 is 0.5-4.5 mol.% and an amount of CeO2 is 2.0-8.0 mol.% and total amount of Dy2O3 and CeO2 is ≥6.0 mol into an alumina matrix so that zirconia particles have 1-40 vol.% content and forming zirconia particles as a tetrtagonal phase or a mixed phase of the tetragonal phase with a cubic crystal phase and keeping monoclinic phase in a ratio of ≤5 vol.%.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
