PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject polymer having improved resistance to environment and excellent luminescent properties or nonlinear optical properties and useful for a luminescent diode, light computing or a light memory, etc., by subjecting monoarylborane and an aromatic diyne to hydroboration polymerization. ;SOLUTION: This π-conjugate polymer contains the objective boron and is expressed by formula II {R1 to R3 are each an alkyl, etc.; Ar is an aryl; (n)=1-1,000} and is obtained by subjecting (A) monoarylborane (e.g. mesitylborane) and (B) an aromatic diyne (e.g. a compound of formula I) to hydroboration polymerization at a room temperature. The polymerization is performed by individually, preferably in an amount 0.1-100 mol.% of the components A and B dissolving in a distilled and purified tetrahydrofuran and dropping a solution of the component A to a solution of the component B, preferably in a ratio of 0.95-1.3 mol of the component A to 1 mol of the component B at room temperature in a nitrogen atmosphere, and preferably, stirring for 0.5-24 hrs.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
