PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new primer composed of an oligonucleotide having a base sequence consisting of a specific number of consecutive bases among specific base sequences and useful for, e.g. assay of EB virus genes with real time detection PCR technique. ;SOLUTION: This oligonucleotide has a base sequence composed of consecutive 15-37 bases among base sequences expressed by formulae I and II, is a forward-side or reverse-side new primer to be used for the assay of EB virus genes with real time detection PCR technique and used for highly sensitive assay of EB virus which is a pathogen of Burkitt's lymphoma and infectious mononucleosis and is suspected to be related with cancer of epipharynx, and is useful for, e.g. diagnosis of viral infection and monitoring of treatment process. This primer is obtained by designing from a base sequence of the IR: 1 region of EB virus genome and conducting chemical synthesis.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
