PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To preserve data on a disk subsystem to be the object of direct access from a host into a magnetic tape library device installed away from the disk subsystem while multiplexing these data against the fault of the disk subsystem caused by a disaster or the like. ;SOLUTION: This backup system is a computer system provided with a disk subsystem 3 for recording data from a host computer 1 and a magnetic tape library device 5 installed away from the disk subsystem 3. In this case, the disk subsystem 3 and the magnetic tape library device 5 are connected through a remote server 6 provided separately from the host computer 1, and data transfer is executed for multiplexing the data from the disk subsystem 3 to the magnetic tape library device 5 without through the host computer 1 under the control of the remote server 6.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
