PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically generate the hierarchy structure of a classification axis and the classification item of the classification axis and to improve work efficiency at the time of constructing a multidimensional data base. ;SOLUTION: In the system, classification item information 13 is taken in by an input means 12 from the multidimensional data base of a relational database 11 and the classification item information 13 which is taken in is transferred to a classification item analysis means 14. The classification item analysis means 14 analyzes a relation between the classification items of classification item information and transfers classification axis hierarchy information to a classification axis generation means 15 based on it. The classification axis generation means 15 generates the hierarchy structure of the classification axis and the classification item based on it. In the generation process of the classification axis being a viewpoint against data, the hierarchy structure of the hierarchy-type classification axis can automatically be generated from the relation of data constituting the classification axis.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
