ASYMMETRIC ACCELERATION RAMP AREA AND ACCELERATION METHOD FOR PRINT CARTRIDGE CARRIER OF INK JET PRINTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size and cost of the entire system by accelerating the print element at a first long subportion to a first print element speed and accelerating the second subportion to a speed less than all of the second print element speed. ;SOLUTION: In a printer 110, an area 118 (from 16a to 16b) is relatively short and includes the subportion 136 of acceleration ramp area. The subportion 136 is shorter than that of a conventional printer and that of the printer 110. In conjunction with the subportion 136, shafts 128, 130, a belt 138 and the housing 110a of the printer 110 are made shorter than those of conventional ones thus reducing the cost of the printer 110 as compared with a conventional one. Driver for the printer 110 has a capability for accelerating a carrier 14 through the subportions 34, 136 of ramp area in the area 118 required for bi-directional printing.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
