PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a study desk with a top board consisting of a fixed top board at the rear which can be used as a middle shelf board, and a simple-structured elevator top board in front which slants down toward the rear to narrower the actual depth of the top board so that a user sitting on a chair can reach an upper shelf attached above the fixed top board. ;SOLUTION: The height of the elevator top board of this study desk can be adjusted at a high position where its top surface is as high as the fixed top board of the study desk, or at a low position where it slants down toward the rear and its lower edge is under the rear surface of the fixed top board. The front edge of a leg board 4 which opens at the top is a slanting edge 7 which slants down toward the rear, and a slit groove 9 is vertically formed on the front surface of the slanting edge. A guide rail 10 whose top is opened is attached inside the leg board 4 along the slanting edge 7. A supporting board extending from the rear part of the bracket which supports either side of the elevator top board is to be inserted into the slit groove 9, and a protruding roller or slider on the supporting board is engaged in the guide rail 10. An attaching board 24 is fixed at the top of the leg board 4 to cover the opening 23 of the leg board, and a tension coil spring is attached between an engaging part 29 on the attaching board 24 and a proper position of the supporting board.
