PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high strength copper alloy wire rod suitable for an electrode wire for wire electric discharge machining. ;SOLUTION: A high strength copper alloy wire rod includes 30 wt.% or more and 35 wt.% or less of Zn and 10 wt.% or more and 30 wt.% or less of Cr and its residual part is composed of Cu and inevitable impurities. This wire rod is a copper alloy wire rod including Zn, in which a great amount of Cr crystallized article is drawn out in a fiber shape in a longitudinal direction and dispersed uniformly and is excellent in a strength, heat resistance and bending property and is a wire rod improved much more those characteristic by adding B, N, C and therefore, is applied to the main capable for an electronic electric equipment and the winding wire for coil and useful extremely. Especially, in the case of using as the electrode wire for electric discharge machining, this wire rod can bear to a high tension during electric discharge machining, even it is an extremely fine wire (0.01-0.07 mm). The electric discharge machining by which a high precision and smooth surface is obtained, coupled with the improvement effect of the electric discharge machining property of Zn can be carried out with a high speed and the electrode wire such as usual expensive W and Mo is dispersed with.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
