PURPOSE:To reduce the power consumption and to improve the reliability of card detection by using a micro switch for card insertion detection and providing its card insertion detecting end with a means which prevents a card from getting under the micro switch. CONSTITUTION:With respect to positional relations between a micro switch 1 and an IC card 3, the IC card 3 is inserted to just the inside of a reader/writer housing part 12, and the micro switch 1 is set on the surface where the IC card 3 is inserted of the housing part 12. A control member 13 is provided above a lever 2 of the micro switch 1 to prevent the front end part of the IC card 3 from getting under the level 2, and the card is exactly detected by the micro switch 1.
