PURPOSE:To enable simultaneous measurement of a right above position of a buried object and its depth from an surface by receiving reflected electromagnetic wave emitted from the transmitting antenna and reflected by the subject by means of a rotatable receiving antenna. CONSTITUTION:A part 10a of electromagnetic wave 10 emitted from a transmitting antenna 2 is reflected by an buried object 11 and the reflected electromagnetic wave 10b by the subject is received by a receiving antenna 3. Receiving level becomes maximum when the receiving antenna occupies a position of which angle against the horizontal surface is theta, by automatic or manual rotational operation. A rotation sensor 5 detects the angle theta that is an angle of the receiving antenna 3 against the horizontal surface, and an angle sensor 4 detects an angle phi that is a rotation angle of the receiving antenna 3 around a standard point of Z-axis. While keeping the rotation angle around the Z-axis at the same value, the rotation angles of the receiving antenna 3 against the horizontal surface are measured at two measuring points in order to obtain a distance between the two measured points and thereby the right above position of the buried object and its depth from a surface can be obtained from a geometrical calculation by a data processing device 6.
