Process and catalysts for obtaining epoxides and hydroxylated derivatives from fatty acids and fatty acid esters

This patent describes a process for obtaining epoxides and hydroxylated derivatives of unsaturated fatty acids and esters in a single reaction stage using molecular sieves containing titanium in their structure as catalysts and a peroxide as oxidising agent. The catalysts claimed in this invention are the zeolites Ti-ZSM-5 and Ti-Beta, and mesoporous solids of the type Ti-MCM-41 and Ti-HMS, in either case with or without aluminium in the tetrahedral positions of their structure.
