At least two particle velocity sensors, which are arranged in a line and each comprise at least one temperature sensor, are used to measure acoustic sound intensity. The difference signal between the first particle velocity sensor and the second particle velocity sensor is used to determine the acoustic pressure by means of a mathematical operation, and the sum signal of the first particle velocity sensor and the second particle velocity sensor is used to determine the particle velocity by means of a mathematical operation. The product of the pressure and the particle velocity corresponds to the sound intensity. As an alternative, a temperature sensor of one of the particle velocity sensors and a temperature sensor or a heating element of the other particle velocity sensor are used to determine a particle velocity.
