Non-woven filtration web of organic polymer bonded quartz fiber suitable for apparatus for continuous monitoring of flowing gas e.g. for atmosphere testing

Filtration web material storable as a coiled strip is made from quartz fibers bonded with an organic polymer. The optimum material uses quartz fibers of not less than 1 micron and 0.1 - 5 micron diameter, and will retain 99.9% of particulates greater than 0.1 micron. Typically the material has a tensile strength of greater than 900 N/m, and produces a pressure drop of 100-200 N/m2.
