The method involves designing generic standard features whose interfaces are uniquely defined through naming conventions, effecting both administration interfaces, i.e. service support data, as well as run time interfaces to other features, i.e. call instance data. Those generic features are instanced once or several times in the service logic, according to need, and a control flow of the service is built out of those feature instances. A data model is created by combining all interfaces of all feature instances in a service, by a respective tool, into a service configuration template. The template is filled out by the service designer according to a service specification. A modified service configuration template is produced automatically at a change of the service logic and the data model, through removing or adding feature instances, in which entries affected by the change are marked.
