A device for generating light of variable colour temperature comprises at least one green, at least one blue and at least one white lighting agent, but no red lighting agent, however. An external diffusor is also used. The lighting agents are fluorescent lamps. The diffusor consists of emulsion-flashed glass or a suitable foil. An artificial skylight comprises a device like this, as does a light surface.
