The invention relates to a method for autonomous guidance of an artillery projectile (2) stabilized by rotation, on a target (12). To obtain that an artillery projectile (2; 25) very precisely hits a target (12), even at distances greater than or equal to 35 km, the invention proposes that, before firing the projectile (2) , the target data, determined beforehand, are transmitted to the latter and that, after firing the projectile (2), these data are compared with the position data of the projectile, measured using a navigation system by satellite.
