Open and closed loop output power control in a transmitter with modification of the feedback loop

A power control arrangement for a transmitter has open loop 21,17 control using blocks 23,22 and a modifiable closed loop 12,13,15,18,21,17 control using blocks 23,19,18,16. Other embodiments show gate bias and power control for the amplifier 14 and switching off the feedback loop for low powers, including smoothing of the transition. Improved accuracy, linearity, dynamic range and power consumption is suggested.
