PURPOSE:To efficiently obtain the subject peptide useful as an antiamnesic agent, a preventing and therapeutic agent for AIDS, etc., by culturing a stain, belonging to the genus Microbispora and having the ability to produce SNA-115 in a culture medium, then extracting the microbial cell with an organic solvent and collecting the extracted component from the extract solution. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism, belonging to the genus Microbispora and having the ability to produce SNA-115 [e.g. Microbispora.sp. SNA-115 (FERM P-12094)] is cultured in a culture medium and the resultant culture is then centrifuged to collect the microbial cell, which is extracted with acetone. The extract is freeze-dried, suspended in a solution of chloroform-methanol at 2:1 ratio, subjected to silica gel chromatography and purified to afford the objective peptide SNA-115, having by prolylendopeptidase inhibiting activity and expressed by formula I and linear peptide SNA-115T expressed by formula II in which the amide bond between the Arg at the 8-position and the Asp at the 9-position is cleaved.
