PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase supporting force, improve the safety of a structure, and reduce the cost for constructing a foundation by effectively utilizing that suction can be generated on the foundation ground when the structure is kept at the soaked state. ;SOLUTION: A bottom section of a foundation 2 of a structure 1 kept at the soaked state is formed with a water-permeable porous body 3 to form this supporting force increasing device. A drainage pump 5 serving as a drainage mechanism collecting water from the ground 4 of the foundation 2 is connected to the water-permeable porous body 3 and provided on the foundation 2 of the structure 1, the drainage pump 5 is operated to suck the water in the foundation ground 4 through the water-permeable porous body 3, suction is generated in the foundation ground by this drainage, and the shearing resistance is increased due to an increase of the effective stress in the ground 4.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
