PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively clean a discharge space inside a plasma display panel. ;SOLUTION: Two vent holes 5, 6 are formed on a side of a back substrate 1BP of a plasma display panel 1. Discharge gas is injected from the first vent hole 5, the discharge gas is discharged from the second vent hole 6, and a pressure capable of discharging is maintained in an inside of the panel. A driving voltage is applied to each of electrodes of both panels, discharge is generated in the discharge space, and aging is performed to clean the inside of the panel. At that time, first and second protective walls 4A, 4B are formed for blocking a gas flowing passage between a seal frit 2 of an outer periphery of the panel and first and second barriers 3A, 3B on both ends, and the discharge gas is made to flow in the discharge space DS partitioned by adjacent barriers 3.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
