PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blank for a paper container with discrimination marks having increased freedom in arrangement, and an apparatus for detecting different kind of the blank using the discrimination marks wherein all the blanks can be surely discriminated even under an environment where they are to be transferred at a high speed and discrimination marks with a large amt. of information can be arranged in a narrow space. ;SOLUTION: In a blank for a paper container with a discrimination mark 4 expressing the kind of the blank, the discrimination mark has a specified shape and is prepd. in such a way that a plurality of the min. units 14a-14i each made in a bright part or a dark part are arranged in squares of measures. An image signal obtd. by photographing the discrimination mark 4 is made into binary values and on this binary image, brightness and darkness of each min. units 14a-14i is detected by each corresponding point and by comparing the value of a binary number with the same figures as this point number or the value of a decimal number obtd. by changing this with a number expressing the kind of the blank being an examination reference, the blank for each paper container can be discriminated in a short time and surely.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
