PURPOSE: To provide a technique of forming a surface treated layer essentially free from the problem of adhesive strength to a Ti basis material by a simplified process without deteriorating machinability and to provide a highly corrosion resistant Ti or Ti-base alloy member obtained by particularly forming the above-mentioned surface treated layer. ;CONSTITUTION: Ta and W are subjected to ion implantation into the surface of a Ti or Ti-base alloy member, by which a concentration enriched layer of Ta and W is formed in the surface layer part of the Ti or Ti-base alloy.
