Regulatory gene sequences and transcription factors that silence and enhance the CD95 gene and its use as a medicament

Disclosed are regulatory DNA sequences that silence and enhance the transcription of coding portions of the CD95 gene. The CD95 gene is instrumental in apoptosis. Proteinaceous transcription factors that bind to the silencer and enhancer regulatory sequences are also disclosed and are useful for modulating the expression of CD95 or other proteins. Use of the DNA construct as a medicament for modulating cell death is disclosed.
