The invention relates to a melting mixture formaking surfaces, particularly roads free of snow and ice,said mixture optionally containing urea as an agentlowering the freezing point of water, and, if desired,other additives, which comprises alcohol distillationresidue and/or fermentation dregs of the alcohol and/orwine industry, which may be present optionally in a con-centrated form, e.g. in a form dehydrated on a filterpress or in a centrifuged or optionally powdered form;wherein the total dry substance content of the residue anddregs amounts to at least 40 % by weight of the totalweight of the aqueous melting mixture, and at least 15 %by weight of this dry substance content originates from anon heat-treated substance.The melting mixture of the invention contains, ifdesired, additives, e.g. urea and/or surface activeand/or flavouring agent(s).The main advantage of the invention is that themelting mixture is free from chloride ions therefore, itdoes not cause corrosion and is environment-friend.
