The method is characterised by the following steps: automatic acceptance of a data line transmission over a data line or radio data transmission route with charges payable by the data sender, automatic redirection of the data transmission to a data line router; automatic distribution of data transmissions to a number of data lines using a data line router; automatic return of data in the form of a data announcement and data query, and saving of data transmitted by the data sender using a device on the data line; processing and editing of the data transmitted by the data sender for relaying to the public institution or stock market and statistics and error diagnosis by a central unit which connects the devices to each data line. In particular, the data lines or radio data transmission routes are telephone connections. The invention also relates to a similar technical method for processing public betting transactions on a numeric basis over the Internet. In this case, a betting coupon for the game is transmitted to the screen and filled out by the player by clicking the mouse.
