A bonding method and a production method of a synthetic corundum capable of efficiently producing a synthetic corundum having predetermined optical characteristics and mechanical strength using a simple process, and the synthetic corundum produced by such methods. Polished bonding surfaces of two synthetic corundum plates (4 and 5) are superposed and one of their end portions is pushed by a supporting (10) for close contacting. Under this state, heating is made to not higher than the melting point of the synthetic corundum so as to bond the synthetic corundum plates (4 and 5).
