PURPOSE: A method for managing a communication network between an institute of electrical and electronics engineers(IEEE)1394 and an asynchronous transfer mode(ATM) is provided, so that a manager can easily perceive which channels are allocated and bandwidth by using displayed information to manage the network, by collecting the information on channel numbers, the bandwidth, speed maps, and topology maps to display the information. CONSTITUTION: A method for managing a communication network between an institute of electrical and electronics engineers(IEEE)1394 and an asynchronous transfer mode(ATM), comprises the steps of: collecting status information on every apparatus connected to the IEEE1394; and displaying the collected information. The step of collecting the information transmits a message inquiring the apparatuses for internet protocol(IP) addresses, and stores the IP addresses and identifications(IDs) of the apparatuses in a memory. Bus resetting is generated in every apparatus. Information on speed maps and topology maps are requested from a bus management, and the information is collected to be displayed.
