The railway vehicle has a number of linked rigid segments (5-9) with constant hollow cross-sections, each supported on the track by at least one wheel pair. The segments ends have segment connections (13) of essentially the same cross-section that continue the external profile between the segments and perform distance compensation whilst traversing curves, dips and humps. The segment connections have active connecting elements distributed over the cross-section of the hollow profile for essentially exclusively transferring the force between the segments and/or for setting the relative positions of adjacent segments wrt. each other.
