The gas generation reactor (1) is a closed module (2) for vertical internal movement, with distributed air supply inlets (7,8,8'). The hearth oxidation zone has a constriction (9) and grate rods (17), in variably-spaced (10,12,13) arrangement. Preferred Features: The reactor cross-section is circular or rectangular. Air inlets can be moved to vary their height (12) above the plane (21) of the constriction (9). This is rectangular, surrounding a rectangular opening. Its segments (22) can be moved linearly, varying their spacing (10). Spacing between segments forming the plane is variable, with radial movement, varying also the constriction diameter. Grid (11) to constriction vertical spacing (13) is also variable. Above the air inlets, reactor walls (23,24) are covered by internally-swinging walls (5,6) preventing fuel bridging by slight horizontal movements. They alternatively move vertically, in opposite directions. The air inlet is an annular ring nozzle. Its slot outlets (8') have fixed horizontal internal projection. Open nozzles (8) introduce air simultaneously into the oxidation zone. The nozzles are formed by opposing nozzle strips having open nozzle slots for penetrating, uninterrupted air introduction. The fuel feed shaft is a rectangular flange in an automatic filling system over which a rectangular fuel hopper (3) is arranged. The horizontal hopper base has a filling shaft (4) matching the rectangular shape of the fuel lock.
